Adolescent pregnancy has long-term social, economic, and educational implications. Studies have shown that teenage parents are more likely to face economic hardship throughout their lives than those who wait until their twenties to become mothers. To help prevent the abuse and neglect of current and future children, the PCA-NJ provides free school services for pregnant teens and parents across New Jersey. These services include childcare, parent groups, individual counseling, crisis intervention, and intensive case management.
All of these services are designed to increase adolescent parents' self-esteem and knowledge about parenting and child development, while also helping them finish high school and avoid repeating pregnancies.
